How to Get Started With a New Journal

Start with your name

The first thing your Journal needs is your name. I like to write out my full name and then follow up with my nicknames. Most journals have a page specifically for this. but that’s not all I like to put in that little area. enter give your journal and introduction maybe something like My Crazy Life in the 10th grade or my boss babe era or the ramblings of a 33-year-old. Either describe yourself or describe the type of entries you’ll be writing. The poetry and art of a young meme Lord sounds pretty good!

Give trespassers a warning!

On the first real page of your Journal you might want to leave a note for anyone snooping where they shouldn’t. turn it back now, or else! smile! you’re on camera! These Pages have been laced with a poison I’ve spent years developing a resistance to. only I know the antidote. Give yourself a status page.

Give yourself a status page

Keeping a status page in every Journal is a super fun way to see how you’ve changed. You want to start with your age then come up with a few criteria you will repeat with every Journal. After a couple of journals you’ll be able to see how much you’ve changed. here’s mine –
-Age
-grade/school/job
-best friend
-Boyfriend
-Pets
-favorite food
-favorite show
-short-term goal
-long-term goal
-last fun event!

Time for special pages

Unless your pages are numbered, keeping your important pages at the front of your Journal is the easiest way to keep up with them. One of my favorite special pages is my fortune cookies page. Pretty self-explanatory but I just glue all of my fortune cookie fortune papers on it and do a little doodle of a fortune cookie. A gratitude log is another great special page. It really does make you feel good inside to think about things that make you happy and grateful. This is also a good place to keep a period tracker or money tracker.

Give yourself some cute surprises

Next, I like to put a few random words, Doodles and stickers throughout. This is a time to use those stickers you’ve had sitting around! This is also a good time to clean out your wallet or purse for any good movie stubs or event wristbands and glue them in. You can also add random abstract art. you can take a pin or marker and do a scribble right in the middle of the page. It’s also fun to write funny quotes or jokes. Even memories that bring a smile to your face make good journal surprises.
